Tripple Clear Health Tested
All of our breeding dogs undergo genetic testing to ensure they are clear of these common genetic traits found in corgis. Triple clear refers to a dog that is clear and not affected by all 3 of the following conditions. Both parents being triple clear indicates that your pup will be cleared by parentage for these conditions!
Von Willebrand Disease (VwD1) – This is a genetic disorder that prevents regular blood clotting, which can cause extensive bleeding when experiencing an injury. This is the result of a deficiency of the VWF protein which acts as a binding protein during blood clotting.
Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC) – This is a genetic disorder that leads to loss of muscle control after a dog experiences extreme exercise or activity. Episodes begin with rocking and are followed by weakening of the hind legs until the dog eventually collapses. The attacks typically last around 20 minutes; a limited number can be fatal.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) – This is a disease of the spinal cord which affects older dogs. The onset of this disease typically occurs between the ages of 8 and 14 years old. Affected dogs lose coordination of their back legs and will wobble when walking or drag their legs. This will progressively worsen until the dog can no longer walk.
